Royan

Discover the Côte de Beauté

Located above the Gironde estuary, on the Atlantic coast, this area offers a preserved environment and stunning landscapes

Royan, between land and sea

From the Atlantic beaches to the wine-growing lands of Saintonge, passing through the Seudre marshes, pine forests or the banks of the Gironde, this territory offers a range of areas with a variety of atmospheres.

Ports, lighthouses, seamarks and carrelet huts conjure up fishing and navigation all around. Stemming from the vogue of sea bathing, beach resort architecture appears all along the coast in the form of extravagant villas and in the clean lines of Royan, a city of art and history completely rebuilt in the 1950s.

An exceptional lifestyle and heritage

To this natural wealth are added the quality and diversity of the architectural heritage. Here the stones relate the history of the capitals of Romanesque churches or the pediments of Protestant temples.

Finally, water sports, sports outings and numerous cultural events and sites provide a quality of life dear to its inhabitants.
