Le Médoc, between ocean and estuary

Situated northwest of Bordeaux and nestled between ocean and estuary, the Médoc offers a rich heritage worth seeing.

Le Médoc, Vineyard destination

The Médoc, this is one of the most renowned vineyards in the world and one of Bordeaux’s greatest with its famous appellations (Margaux, Pauillac…), its equally famous 1855 Grands Crus Classés (Margaux, Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild, Latour…) and wine cellars designed by the greatest architects on the planet.

Le Médoc, Nature destination

It also has a remarkable natural heritage with its magnificent sandy beaches, the Gironde Estuary, the largest in Europe, and beautiful wild islands as well as a wide range of outdoor activities: cycling paths, hiking trails, boating activities, surfing, golf courses…

Le Médoc, Heritage destination

Lastly, the Médoc also has an exceptional architectural heritage with its magnificent châteaux, its carrelet fishing huts, its many historical monuments and UNESCO World Heritage sites (or those pending classification) such as Fort-Médoc, the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-terres (Our Lady of Land’s end) in Soulac and the Cordouan Lighthouse.
